Answers to your Questions

  1. When I press the 'S' key, FS2000 displays a "wierd" virtual cockpit view. Why??

FS2000 esentially does away with the "virtual cockpit view". The initial Private Pilot aircraft do not "hide" this view when the 'S' key is pressed.

To eliminate the virtual cockpit view, download the Private Pilot update (2.8 MB).

After you download this program (pp_update2.exe) into your FS2000 folder and run it which updates the AIRs, MDLs and aircraft.cfg files for your Private Pilot aircraft.

  2. While flying the Bonanza V-tail, the windshield appears black. How can I fix this?

This happens when using a screen resolution of 600 x 800. To fix the problem, download the Private Pilot update above.

  3. I've moved from Flight Simulator 2000 to Flight Simulator 2002. Can I use the Private Pilot aircraft with FS2002?

Yes. We have released an update to Private Pilot for FS2002. This update includes the following:
  • Updates to the visual models for Windows XP and Windows 2000 compatibility
  • Changes to the flight model to correct wheels and floats
  • Updates to the panels to correct several gauges
  • Updates to NAV2 and COM2 radios
  • Update to Cessna 150 float plane for water operation
  • Updates to aircraft selection windows - manufacturer is "Abacus Private Pilot"

Download the Private Pilot FS2002 update: AbacusPP_FS2002.exe (1.5MB) and carefully follow these two steps:

* Install the CD-ROM into FS2002 (using your original Private Pilot CD-ROM).
* Install the AbacusPP_FS2000.exe update for FS2002 (from above).

Step 1. Installing the Private Pilot CD-ROM (FS2000 version) into FS2002

Follow these steps to install the FS2000 version of Private Pilot into FS2002. When this is complete, install the Private Pilot Update.

a. Insert the Private Pilot CD-ROM and start the installatopm for Private Pilot

b. Continue to click Next> until you get to the Choose Destination Location screen.

When you reach the screen Choose Destination Location, click the Browse... button. Now double-click the path to your FS2002's MAIN folder. This typically done by double-clicking the following folders:

C:
Program Files
Microsoft Games
FS2002

Once the path is set to the main FS2002 folder, click OK.

c. Proceed through the installation by clicking Next on each screen.

d. DO NOT run the Private Pilot Scenery Setup. Island Airpark Scenery is not compatible with FS2002 and we will not be providing an update.

e. On the last screen, click Finish.

DO NOT view the "ReadMe File" or "Launch The Program File".

Step 2. Now that the FS2000 version of Private Pilot is installed to FS2002, you'll also have to run the Private Pilot Update for FS2002.

This update automatically looks for FS2002 in the Windows Registry. If the destination shown does not point to your main FS2002 folder, you can adjust the path as described above.

Once the installation is complete, open FS2002 and take to the skies!

All aircraft will appear in the FS2002's Select Aircraft menu with a manufacturer name: Abacus Private Pilot.
