Using EZ-GPS - Flying Direct When you fly direct, you want to fly a course that will take you directly to your destination without using any intermediate waypoints. This example shows you how to set EZ-GPS to fly direct from your current position to Portland. To set EZ-GPS to do this, you'll first enter the identifer for Portland "KPDX" into the display and then press the SET button.

Click on D to display this screen. The brackets[] indicate the selected character position of the identifier. Pressing either NXT or PRE, changes the character within the brackets[] to the next or previous alphanumeric character.   Press NXT or PRE repeatedly until the character within the brackets[] is the first character of the identifier to [K]. Press [->] to move the brackets[] to the 2nd character position. The display appears as in the illustration to the right. Press NXT or PRV repeatedly until the character within the brackets[] is the second character of the identifier to [P].   Repeat the above sequence to specify the third and fourth characters of identifer. For Portland, the identifer is KPD[X] as in the illustration to the right. Click SET to select the identifier for Portland KPDX as the destination. You're now ready to fly direct to KPDX. When you're airborne, press GPS to link the AP-GPS which will effortlessly guide you to Portland. Have an enjoyable flight. EZ-GPS is simple to use but it has another powerful feature. It can fly your plane along an FS flight plan. EZ-GPS will follow the flight plan including automatic course changes for each of the waypoints.
