Question: I've switched to the new Flight Simulator X. How do I install Flight Deck 4 to run with FSX?
Answer: Please read this section carefully, since the steps are different depending on your computer system.
All registered users of Flight Deck 4 are eligible for this free update for FSX.
For Users Who Have Not Installed Flight Deck 4 for FS2004
This applies to you
- if you have a Flight Deck 4 CD-ROM* and have not installed Flight Deck 4 for FS2004 on your computer system
Download and run the Flight Deck 4 CD-ROM Validation program which prepares your computer system.
Download Flight Deck 4 CD-ROM Validation program (670 KB)
After download, run the program AbacusFD4_CD-ROM_Validation.exe which may ask you to insert your Flight Deck 4 CD-ROM into the CD drive.
If the InstallShield Wizard start when you insert the Flight Deck 4 CDROM, click Cancel (since you do not want to install Flight Deck 4 (for FS2004) at this time).
After you run the validation program, your computer system is set to accept the free Flight Deck 4 Update for FSX (see yellow highlighted area below).

- if you do not have a Flight Deck 4 CD-ROM because you previously purchased the download version of Flight Deck 4 for FS2004 and you have removed FS2004 from your computer system.
Locate your personal registration key from your original order. Next download and install the following:
Download Flight Deck 4 for FSX (71 MB)
Run the program AbacusFlightDeck4_FSX.exe and type your personal registration key when asked to install the new Flight Deck 4 for FSX. You'll be set to take off from the deck of the USS Ronald Regan using Flight Simulator X.
You do not have to install any other updates. |

- if you have previously installed Flight Deck 4 for FS2004 (either from a CD-ROM or from the download version) and it is installed on your computer system or
- if you have previously run the Flight Deck 4 CD-ROM Validation program from above.
Your computer system is all set for you to download and install the Flight Deck 4 Update for FSX. Cclick below to retrieve it.

After download, run the program AbacusFlightDeck4_FSXUpdate.exe and you'll be set to take off from the deck of the USS Ronald Regan using Flight Simulator X.

How can I fix this?
Answer: We have identified the problem that is causing the lengthy time to load some of the Flight Deck 4 aircraft. We are now preparing a fix and expect to have an update available for download about December 20th.

What can I do to fix this?
Answer: The problem is related to the textures on the aircraft carrier
itself. We have replaced the textures to solve the problem. Please download and install Update 1 below.
Question: FS2004 Only How can I turn off the afterburners on the F-18C and F-18E?
Answer: The afterburner visual effect is controlled by a gauge file that not working consistently. Please download and install Update 1 below.
Question: How can I change the Nav and Com frequencies on the F-18C?
Answer: The current aircraft.cfg file incorrectly reports that the Nav and Com radios have a standby frequency. Radios which have a standby frequency allow you to change only the standby frequency, then swap the active with the standby. Please download and install Update 1 below.
